Further to the below post.

We have quite a few hampers to hand out to ANY families that are struggling at the moment.

The items are all directly purchased from Costco and donated by a very special friend of the club.

If you know anyone that we can help out please let us know via private message.

Dear Community.

Fawkner SC can see that some family’s are struggling during this lockdown and most likely for months to come.

We would like to make sure that anyone that is on hard times can come and get a bite to eat while we are at the club training.(you don’t have to be a Fawkner SC Member)

This would be totally free and confidential and all you would have to do is find Alex or Franco at the canteen and they will look after you on the night.

Further to this we are looking at starting some sort of non perishable food bank to also help out anyone in need or just having a crap week or can’t afford even toilet paper etc.

So if anyone has non perishable goods they can donate or would like to get involved please let us know.

We would also like to rattle the tin so we can help families even further if we can, even if it’s just for a train ticket 🎫

It’s a good time to help our fellow human beings and maybe just maybe the little things we can do might just help out someone in need.

Please Share this post and if you would like to help out and build this into something big then GET IN TOUCH...

*** U19A Girls - RD 6 MATCH REPORT ***

Rowville Eagles SC 0:7 Fawkner SC (HT 0:1)

Goals : Alexia Iaconis, Zahra Ahmed, Zoe Soumalias, Betty Kousoulis x 2, Georgi Prodromos x 2

Fawkner U19 Girls travelled to Rowville Eagles for their Round 6 clash of the Girls Metro U19A Competition.

Coming off a comfortable win last week, Fawkner began the half slowly, a 40 minute delay to kick off and a last minute change in the line-up seemed to put the girls off their game.

A lack of touch on the final pass, misdirected shots at goal and one that rebounded off the post looked like making it a tough day at the office. Despite dominating possession, the 1 – 0 score line at half time, courtesy of a 26th minute long range strike by Alexia Iaconis, was all we had to look back on.

Some soul searching at half time saw the team shift up a gear in the second half, but more near misses, including 2 more shots that found the post and crossbar, looked to continue the frustration.

Better control of the ball however and passes that started finding their targets saw the lead extended in the 52nd minute when Zoe Soumalias lobbed the Rowville keeper from long range. That was the spark that the team needed and from that point on they didn’t look back.

A fine solo run and clean finish by Zahra Ahmed brought up 3 – 0 in the 59th minute and a brace by Betty Kousoulis, 69th and 73rd followed by another by Georgi Prodromos, 76th and 78th saw Fawkner run out comfortable 7 – 0 winners.

Whilst the girls enjoyed the win they were conscious of the missed opportunity to make up some goal difference on league leaders Bentleigh. A solid week on the training track will be essential to keep the momentum going for our Round 7 clash at home against Boroondara Eagles FC next Sunday.

*** SENIOR WOMEN – RD 6 – MATCH REPORT ***

Brunswick City SC 5:1 Fawkner SC (HT 1:1)

Goal scorer – Laila Abdullatif

The Fawkner Senior Women took on the undefeated Brunswick City SC today at Dunstan Reserve.

The first half was an arm wrestle with both sides going end to end and both backlines working overtime before Tanisha Gullotti and Laila Abdullatif combined to give the Fawkner side the lead at the 32nd minute mark.

The lead was short lived as moments later Brunswick City equalised and the sides went in at half time with the scores locked at 1:1 and neither side giving an inch.

Fawkner came out firing in the second half and dominated play and possession for the first 25 minutes everywhere but on the scoreboard. Against the run of play, a mix up on our defensive third saw Brunswick City pounce on the mistake and make it 2:1.

With the game still in the balance, an injury to Ely Laleas threw the team off balance and unfortunately our girls conceded 3 quick goals to put the score at 5:1 and the game out of reach. These things happen and sometimes you have to lose to eventually win.

We now regroup and reset and get ready for our Rd 7 game at home vs Watsonia Heights FC next Sunday, kick off at 1pm.

Thank you to all the supporters today who attended the game!
